We all have seen recipes that are labeled easy or simple and then you try it and you beg to differ (politely disagree). I have. That's why I decided that since I'm suggesting to parents to make play dough with their children, I might want to try the experiment first.
So I searched in my kitchen for the ingredients and started mixing.
Surprisingly, it was easy-peasy.
I decided to put the recipe into 4 easy steps. This way parents or older children can follow along easily. Don’t worry you got this.
First go over the recipe and make sure you have the supplies. Once your ready, lets get started.
If you would like to add color, you have two options.
1. Add it during step 2 for one solid color.
2. After step 3 separate play dough and add different colors to each section.
You can also add different scents and glitter.
This recipe makes a decent amount of playdough. Enough for about 3-4 children max.
Below is the finished product .
I decided to make the letters in my name because it is one of the activities I suggest in the Ready, Set, Grow calendars.
Also I pulled out my cookie cutters and made various shapes. Children can make shapes and name them or describe the shape.
These are just a few examples. There are so many skills your child can practice while playing with playdough. Plus they are building their fine motor skills at the same time.
Be creative, have fun but most importantly continue to learn.
Looking forward to experimenting with slime next.
