DIY - 5 minute Dry Erase Boards for at Home Learning

Updated: Jul 25, 2023

My goal is to share with families easy and affordable ideas to use during learning time with their children. One of my favorites is dry erase boards. They are super easy to make and very affordable. The supplies you will need are dry erase markers, dry eraser (old sock, tissue etc), clear plastic covers and worksheets that your student will work on. These items can be purchased at your local dollar store for a reasonable price or any other store that sells school supplies.

Lets take a look at how I made and used my dry erase boards. First, make or printout the worksheets you would like to use. ELA and math sheets work great.

Next, take your worksheet and place it inside of the plastic cover. I use name worksheets often for students to practice writing their first and last name.

Then have your student/child use a dry erase marker to complete the worksheet.

The dry erase marker can be erased with any type of soft material such as a dry eraser, tissue, old sock etc. Once they are finished they can erase their work and practice again or try another worksheet.

This is a fun learning activity for children of all ages. It provides an opportunity for pre-k/kindergarten students/children to practice writing in a nontraditional way (pencil and paper). It can also be used as a white board and can be written and drawn on with colored dry erase markers.

A great inexpensive learning activity that can be done at home or school.
